Authorites continue school closure - plus more work for home

As you will be aware teh authorities have determined schools both public and private are to remain closed.  Keep an eye on www.unityhighschool.org for updates

Here is some more work to keep you occupied - it relates to the learning objectives we  are currently focussing on.
Maths:
 1. Design a mirror sign with a printed message at least 5 letters. ecnalubma (ambulance)
2. Join 2D shapes to create another 2D shapes. ex. a square and a triangle to make a pentagon.
3. Create shapes using folding and cutting. ex. fold a square paper into quarters then cut diagonally one side. Open the paper and a kite will appear.
4. Study direction and location using grid
Literacy:
1.       Write a story with a threatening setting
2.      Think of a project e.g. How to make a cage for a pet. Write an instruction of how to make the project. Bring finished  project with the instructions when we come back.
Science
1) Draw and explain the life cycle of a plant and
2) of a butterfly and
3) of a frog

Homework 26, 28 and 30 September

Due to the School Closure - reopening Tuesday 1st of October -by directive from the Ministry of Education the following homework has been set for year 3 students;
Year 3

Literacy:

  1. Write up a set of instructions for making fresh salad or pizza
  2. Write a story with a calm and peaceful atmosphere
    1. observe punctuation and paragraph format
    2. underline the verb used
    3. circle the powerful adjectives
    4. box the nouns used
  3. revise:
    1. punctuation and capitalization
    2. paragraph format
    3. adjectives
    4. verbs
    5. nouns

Mathematics

  1. Revise Addition and Subtraction Facts
  2. Times table of 2,3,5 and 10
  3. Revise 2D and 3D shapes
  4. Draw the following shapes and find out how many lines of symmetry you can find.

    5. pentagon

  5. Revise angles in shapes
  6. Draw the following shaped and identify what angles are present and how many right angle they can find.

B. 1. Draw a flower label the parts of both female and male parts

Ex. Move – all living thins must move. Animals move from place to place. Plants grow towards the light eg. A sunflower follows/ moves with the direction of the sun.
